Dawn Fraser
Three consecutive Olympic 100 m freestyle titles from 1956 to 1964
Overview
Fraser won the 100 m freestyle at Melbourne 1956, Rome 1960 and Tokyo 1964, the first swimmer of either sex to win the same event three times. She was the first woman under 60 seconds and her 58.9 from 1964 stood as the world record for eight years. Her career blended record breaking with a famously irrepressible character.
