Overview

Ender won the 100 m and 200 m freestyle, 100 m butterfly and a relay at Montreal, each in world record time, after two silvers at Munich 1972. Her results were later shown to be part of the East German state run doping program, a central chapter in the history of doping in sport. Her times were extraordinary for the era regardless of context.
