Cuba to Florida Swim
Diana Nyad swam 177 km from Havana to Key West in 2013 at age 64
Overview
Diana Nyad reached Key West in September 2013 after about 53 hours in the water from Havana, swimming without a shark cage or wetsuit, her fifth attempt since 1978. She used a protective box and shark divers on earlier tries and a sting suit against jellyfish on the successful swim. The crossing remains one of the most debated and celebrated endurance swims in history.
