Overview
Torres first swam at the Olympics in 1984 and won a relay gold that year. She retired and returned more than once, winning five medals at Sydney 2000 at age 33. At Beijing 2008, aged 41, she took three silver medals, losing the 50 m freestyle by one hundredth of a second, and became the oldest woman to win an Olympic swimming medal.
